HELP! C4S damaged during trasport....
Hello all!
My 02 C4S was finally delivered Monday (suppose to be here Friday) and it was hit by the top (actually removable roof) from a Jeep Wrangler.
Here's the damage:
A couple of chips to the front bumper
A couple of scratches to the passenger door
Right Fender is dented
Roof has a scratch (about 1 inch)
Rear fender is dented
Right Rear taillight is broken
Rear Glass broken
Interior trim panel (next to glass) is scratched
And the bottow TT lip is cracked from going up and down the rail
The deal is that the shipping company will pay for the rapairs and will go after the Jeep owner, but I really don't like owning vehicles that have paint work.
However, the positive outcome is that the body shop will need to paint my front bumper and they are replacing the TT front lip ($900), so I was thinking about upgrading the bumper all together.
So far I looked into Techart, but $4000 is too much for me. I called my local Porsche dealer and they can get me the GT2 front bumper and bottom lip for $1600 (VERY reasonable) considering the money I can get from selling my C4S bumper, BUT my body shop said that the GT2 front end might not fit????
Can anyone confirm this? Please fill me in on what is need to complete a GT2 front end conversion or if there is any other route. I've also looked at Performance Product's catalog and they have a GT2 bolt-on kit for $2100, so is this best route?
I need to let my body shop know soon on which route I'm heading, so any input will help guys and girls! If there is another style of bumper out there that looks aggresive please also let me know.

wow...that sux. Is your dealer quoting you on a used GT2 front, because that is cheap.
Be careful of the aftermarket bumper covers. A guy at my local dealer had a black TT with an aftermarket GT2 front and it looked like ****. It just didn't look 'right'. It had some ripples in it. It just wasn't smooth, plus it just didn't look like it fit quite right.
Good luck!

Thats soooo messed up man!! Really sorry to hear about this
I dont htink the GT2 front is a direct bolt-on (at least on the TTs) as all the radiator hoses and ducting needs to be changed...
Also, for type II front PM 20C4S (Arling at Lucent - a board sponsor) and I am sure he can get you the best price

maxwell
The dealer quoted my $1600 for a NEW bumper and bottom lip, BUT he's not sure if I need anything else such as grills, air ducts, or what not. $1600 is dealer cost because I have a friend with a dealer license, so it's about 20% cheaper. I found 3 websites that carry "bolt-on" GT2 front bumpers for the C4S for $2000 and there made out Urethane, but I kind of want to stay with OEM parts because of the better fitment and all.
Anyone use the OEM GT2 front bumper on a C4S? Any neccessary mods and what parts are exactly needed?
Thanks

Sorry to hear about that, why are you accepting the car with that amount of extensive damage? We are talking about a high end sports car, you have several panels that need to be repaired and painted, its not good for the value of the car, bumpers are one thing but the body is another, I think you should rethink it.

Well, I bought the car used from a private party, so I doubt that's an option.

I just put the GT2 bumper on my car. You do need the new ducts and you have to modify the hoses that connect to the radiator. It is a pretty involved install, you can do a search I think Ken posted the details of the install.
03 C4S
Just put the order in today for the following items:
GT2 bumper: $1288.69
Lip: $232.19
L Air Duct: $117.82
R Air Duct: $117.82
Mid Air Duct: $146.88
BUT recieved this email from Gert Carnewal a few minutes later:
Bumper cover
Support top bumper
chin spoiler
air intake mid
air intake left
air intake right
cover center outlet top
What's the support top bumper and cover center outlet top???
Do I need more parts? And my body shop quoted 6 hours of labor for the install and air duct mods. Does that sound reasonable?

Your body shop has no clue! In order to install correctly you need to modify the water tubes that run down both sides. The best way is to buy another factory tube, then use it as filler material to extend the tubes. Next once the tubes are done spacers are necessary to push the center radiator away from the body. This is what makes it sit properly in the new cover. Once you have all the correct factory pieces as stated by others only then can should you trial fit everything before painting your new cover.
I have seen this done correctly by a body shop in New Jersey called Creative Coachworks. They take a little long but when they are done it's done. No hose clamps holding extended hoses!
