I read this article,and i can't wait for this beast to come out..Here comes the new 928!!!

After stirring up the faithful by doing the unthinkable(building the Cayenne suv),Porsche is looking to add another model to it's lineupthat may appease a certain subset of Porschephiles,those long-ignored fansof the 928.Porsche has made no secret that it want's to use it's v-8 engine developed for the Cayenne in other models,and return to a front engine v-8 2+2 gt,or even a 4 door sedan,is in it's cards..The new Porsche 2+2 would allow the Stuttgart factory to battle against Aston Martin's DB9 and Ferrari's 612 Scaglietti.Porsche's twin turbo v-8 would likely pump out 450-500bhp and deliver that power to all four wheels??..Sources say that the platform for the car will come from the VW Group,with many pieces common to the Bentley continental GT,which would keep cost's down....

Hopefully they really come out with this car!!.I would love to have one,so i can ride around with my daughter in it..Iwill answer one thing..NO I DO NOT TAKE MY DAUGHTER IN THE TT!!!!

 

I guess it would be a cool car, but it's no wonder why Pcars lose their value so quickly these days. There is a new model out every 3 months. I mean how many different porsches are there now, 40th anniversary, millenium edition, c2, c2 cab, c4, c4 cab, c4s, c4s cab, turbo, gt3, gt2.

Although this one sounds cool, maybe they should take a hint from ferrari. There is absolutely no mystique or exsclusivity to the Porsche name any more.

you forgot targa, turbo cab and gt3 rs, but I definately agree.....there are way too many versions of the 911 out. I think Carrera 4 should only come on coupe models and there should be a Carrera 2S.

 

I like all the different versions of porsche's. They have a model to cater to practically every taste people have. You want a nice car to drive around in california during the summer? Go get a c2 cab. You want a hardcore, naturally aspirated, track car? GT3. You want something fast with tuning potential that is reliable and can be driven every day in every condition imagineable? 911 turbo. They cater to every taste and I hope they never stop doing that.

 

Also, if you think about it, there really are only 3 cars that Porsche has now - Boxster, 911, and Cayenne. Each you mention is a derivitive of one of those models, akin perhaps to Accord DX, Accord LX, Accord SE, etc., or Mustang, Mustang 5.0, Mustang GT, Mustang Mach 1, Mustang SVT, etc., etc. Different engines and transmissions, body acoutrements and suspension - it's the same car more or less, just coming in all flavors. The 4-door GT I saw at the research event would make 4 vehicles they offer, not the countless derivitives you mention
