Ruf R Turbo - 590 HP

The February issue of GT Purely Porsche magazine arrived today. As I was flipping through it, I found an excellent article on the new 590 HP Ruf R-Turbo. This thing sounds like an amazing machine. Some of the changes from the 520 HP R-Turbo listed include:

1) a second larger turbo (is this a sequential set-up?)
2) Extensive porting
3) Larger injectors
4) New Headers
5) More aggressive cam
6) Modified heads
7) Titanium conrods

Alois’ comments on the need for the stronger conrods,

“When we came to this level of torque [612], the steel [conrods] were bending, which was an expensive lesson. They warped so much they were touching the cylinder sleeves, but fortunately didn’t break apart as that would have been even more expensive.”

Mr. Ruf must be dramatically understating the 612 TQ figure as many on this board has been pushing higher numbers for a considerable period of time now. His stated stats are as follows:

HP: 590
TQ: 612
Boost: 1.1 (how’s this work?)
0-62 mph: 3.5 seconds
Top Speed: 218 mph

the Protomotive car ran 1.2 bar, so it is entirely possible, especially with all the work done to the internals.

Here is a BAR - PSI conversion table...

Also, in regard to the 'second larger turbo' line item... I do not believe it is possible to run turbos of different sizes (in either parallel or sequential), right?

The same article also states that RUF is about launch their own car. Also it is targeting and will be priced in the supercar market ie......Carrera GT & ENZO.

Not sure I would Pay that kind of money for a car completly manufactured by Ruf.

Seeing how Saleen was able to come up with the S7 (a rather decent car -yeah, I know it's mostly built in england though-), I just can't wait to see what RUF comes out with.
