Are sport seats lighter? Better?

Since we have been discussing weight so much here lately I am wondering if anyone knows if the power sport seats are any lighter than the std power seats. Also for people who have sat in both, are the sport seats really bolstered any better? The std seats are comfy but have suprisingly lttle lateral support. Last question, what is a good price for a pair of used sport seats?

i don't know if they are lighter but they do hold you in better.

mine should be lighter though since it only has power recline. everything else is manual.

Rob, I had them and if they are lighter its not by much, they still have all the heating and electrical motors that make these seats heavy. They do have more of a lateral bolster and are better than the standard seat.

But once you see the massive weight reduction of a GT3 seat and how it holds you in like you wouldnt believe, and oh yeah wow are they comfortable, then there will be no turning back!!

I sold my old sport seats with yellow backs, heaters, and porsche crest for $1000.
Look at sport seats below and GT3 below them

OK tom, I think you sold me
I guess Im just a little worried about the non adjusting seatback angle and lack of cushioning. Im light and rarely go on long rides though. What do you think Is the seatback angle is bad for a street car? I will hopefully be tracking 2 or 3 times per year soon.

Ron the seats are VERY comfortable, I have driven the car to tracks hundreds of miles away with no complaints from me or passenger.

They are a good upgrade for the car period, doesnt really matter if you track the car, the driving experience is better.

Granted you have "limited" access to the back seats. That would be the only drawback. There are other sports seats that do recline that you can find that still would be better than the sports seats. Look at the Recaro SRD's

Totally agreed with Tom, had the Recaro Pole Positions in my m3 which is based off the same shell as GT3, and i LOVED them. The way they hold you in is ridiculous, you feel one with the car, and the GT3's in my GT2 are outstanding and so comfy as Tom mentioned. One of the best upgrades hands down

Tom -- Could you please comment as to whether the seat backs are higher on the GT3 seats? I'm 6'2", and the biggest issue I have with my current "regular" seats is the fact that my head just barely hits the top of the headrest on the seat. I tried a set of Sport Seats and they felt the same. Are GT3 seatbacks any higher??? Thanks!

The power seats are fairly heavy, with the non power sports being a little lighter, but as mentioned before, there is no comparison to the GT3's, awesome seat, very comfortable.

I am also the same height, but what are you asking exactly? Maybe im too tired and not reading it correctly but how is it an issue of your head not being over the top or just hitting the top of the headrest?

In the GT3 seats its like such a natural position you fall into, you can lean forward a bit or even sit up straight all with comfort!

A taller person can fit better in GT3 seats due ot the fact that they sit lower in the car to produce a lower center of gravity.

As with Tom, I too liked my GT3 seats much mor that the stock ones and did trips from Miami to Sebring for track events in them. Great upgrade...
