If I had a GT2 I'd keep it.

Given the poll results, appears this is a pretty subjective board, as am I of course....I assume you went over to the GT3 section and asked the same question? I'm sure you'll find opposite results.

2 or 3

I don't know OhioGT2, I was in the same exact situation. I turned down new GT3 and GT3RS allocations for the GT2. Granted, it happened to be exactly the right 2. Realize also that I came from a modded GT700 996TT to an 05 GT3(also modded over time). I loved the 3 and felt it was the best handling Porsche car I've ever owned and I grew to appreciate the hi-reving NA motor. The GT2 however, provides the whole package. Maybe not quite as nimble as the 3 but a better street/track combo overall and with a GT700 type kit, a challenging monster to tame. Really, its best to have both since they offer different experiences. If I had to have one, it would be the 2 (today anyway).

I completely agree. I came out of a 996TT/GT700 also. IMO, the GT2/GT700 is about the best overall performing vehicle that can be driven on the street, I can't think of anything that outperforms it in all of the major categories (acceleration, handling, braking). The GT700 with its quick spooling turbos, also makes it an ideal track car with plenty of power and boost at lower revs.

As noted above you can pick up a GT3 later. No point rushing in when you already own the "fastest 911" Porsche ever produced!

As far as moving up the power spectrum I would spend your money on suspension and brakes, then more motor mods than what you already have (close to 600 hp). I also would look in the UMW 3a or 3 b kit, in addition to the Evoms GT700. Of course since you have stage 4, the GT700 may be more cost effective.

Good luck with your decision.

JCM,

You nail it on the head everytime.
I went thru the same dilema with my 993TT when purchasing the GT2 a few years back. Ended up keeping and modding both. Recently I had the opportunity to purchase a 997GT3 from Arling and again was going thru the same dilema of selling the GT2. Lile JCM, I recently took my GT2 out for a 2 days trip and realized that there's no way I can give up this car. It was full of adrenaline rush everytime I squeeze that gas pedal or turn those tight corners. With a little mod this car is just plain sick..
Dilema dilema ..Good luck.

Vincent

The GT2 with motons and bigger brakes and engine mods is in my mind THE PERFECT CAR!!
I am/was going through the same thing looking at a GT3RS. I think my car modded with motons (in my garage) larger brakes (on the way) and lighter (by 200 pounds) and RWD convert, the GT3 offers me nothing new.

And although I dont have a GT2, I love my car and think at this point I would take a large loss getting rid of it with the current market.

My 2 cents!!

Thanks guys for all the responses. You are making the decision easier to pull the trigger on the GT700.

I have to admit that all the hype of the new 997 GT3 has got me thinking of cheating on my GT2 and possibly dumping her, but I definitely don't want to make the wrong decision.

I primarily use my GT2 for weekend terrorizing on the street with maybe 4 HPDEs a year max.

What's a guy to do? Choose between his hot and loyal girlfriend that performs excellent in almost all categories or chase the latest eye candy that just moved into town?

I think I will post this in the GT3 section just for kicks.

Thanks again!!
George

Well, let me post some pics, that will be much easier to explain. Oops, I forgot, we may have some minors on this board. Darn!
