Aw, c'mon. A little JB Weld and a putty knife and it will be as good as new. Especially considering that new was flawed to begin with.

JB Weld and a smoother. If it doesnt seem square hit it with a grinder and good as new!

I'd rather take the extra few days to make sure everything is right with a motor. I've made sure each motor I've had built in the past is done right. It's good to see that people still do it though! The shops that just throw the motors together so they get out fast never end up lasting very long

Stephen, I applaud your tenacity. I too am old school when building motors, very little machine work and alot of hand tooling... Your quality assurance program seems to be second to none... Kuddos, Bro..

So do you think a small metal fragment managed to get in there during Porsche engine assembly or during the gasket manufacturing process? Both are done in practically sterile environments, but it just goes to show that things can still go wrong. Same thing happens occasionally in the operating room!

Based on where it was at towards the bottom I would guess wiht the gasket. It would have been hard for something to back track up into the gasket in the middle of them like that. But anything is possiable.

Ya, I thought that would make you cringe. Only type-A personality, **** retentive, obsessive compulsive people like yourself should be allowed to touch these cars.

This is a situation where an aftermaket warranty would have come in handy.
