GOD no!!!!!!! If you go to ANY car wash inspect the towels and mitts they are using, I would rather mine sit dirty for a few days than take it to a drive through with the big paint scratchers cutting up your paint.

Ezmoney, where do you go? I would be open to knowing a good place in LA...but I would tend to agree with the rest, I prefer to wash my own since you cannot generally really trust a car wash....just my .02......cheers!

I have only ever been to a carwash once when I was a little kid and I convinced my mom to take me through so I could see how they worked. She said it would **** off my dad if he found out we took one of our cars through a wash. I did my first hand wash when I was around 9 and haven’t done anything other then that since. Washing a car, especially your favorite one is so stress relieving. I have washed cars in the rain before, too. Hand washing a little sports car isn’t that much of an undertaking either. My buddy gave me these cool plush little blue towels that absorb the water and you can just wring them out. One little towel will dry my truck. They are made by Mothers. It helps to cut down on time and laundry too. Washing big things like boats is what really sucks. Try washing nasty river water off of a wakeboard boat in 102 degree sun with no shade it site. I wish there was a wash that it would fit through. I don’t trust other people, or machines to take car of my possessions.

O.K. 3 places in L.A. to wash the car:

The 7.95 place is on Melrose and Spaulding. 7.95 is for mon-wed. I think it is 9.95 on the other days. To pass the time, there are usually a lot of cute girls and nice cars to look at while you're waiting. Take HeavyChevy's advice...always ask for clean towels/chamois when wiping down at any car wash including this place. I always tip the guys 5 bucks and they love it. The owner has a 997 S Cab and his wife has a Cayenne S (both lightly modded), so they like our cars and take extra care. One bad thing is they can never seem to put the seats back in the original position after vacuuming...what ever.

Another place I go is in the parking garage of the Century City Mall. $20 bucks. Very convenient...you can go see a movie or shop or eat at the very nice food court. Moses is the owner's name and he knows how to make his customers happy.

Lastly, and I have never had my car detailed there, but Lucent has a guy that comes around once a week and does an incredible detail. I just can never find the time to leave my car there for a few hours. Ask Arling for his service.

I've never been in one in my entire life. Honestly, I'm embarrassed to say I don't even know how they work. Do you just drive in and stop at a mark and it takes care of the rest?

Are you kidding?
There are several types, but the most common in Sweden are the ones where you stop at a mark and the machine goes back and forth, tearing the paint off.

There's also the other type, which "drags" your car along. Don't forget to leave your car i neutral...

Usually I wash it myself but in a hurry...

I do touchless WITHOUT TRACKS were the car stands still, I usually have a drying towel to complete the job properly.

I would love to do hand wash for $ but I live in the boonies and none are available.

I have had rims trashed on a Corvette in a track carwash once... that was it

It your turbo is lowered you can't go through the wash anyways it will get stuck! Hand wash is the only way whether you do it yourself or pay someone else.

Hi, my name's Joe and I'm a convulsive detailer. You can eat off of any serface of the P or F car but I have a confession; but over the last month of absolutely unbearable salted roads, I did indeed, take my M though the carwash once . It's a horrible offense and I would like to make it known that I'm trying to fix my problem. I might need outside help and support though. Thanks 6speed for understanding.

What do you do, your in your turbo, haven’t washed it for a few days so its kind of dirty. Driving down the road just minding your own business and you see it. A charity wash with a bunch of nice looking ladies wearing bikinis. What do you do hot shot?

BTW married guys don’t get to answer, too biased.

If you knew what was in the recycled water you would never ever use a public car wash. You might as well sand blast your finish.
