Love my AWE...decent power gains, louder than stock, but still quiet enough to have a conversation inside the cabin. It's a great break coming from an M3 with an loud raspy tin can drone.

AWE's exhaust IMO is the quietest!
The 590 exhaust uses bigger pipping (80mm) compared to the other Ruf exhausts. The way you can tell is from the size of the tips. I have driven a 590 R Turbo before and the 590 exhaust is considerably louder than my Ruf exhaust with 70mm piping.

They both sound great!

996 thanks for the info man, yea i LOVE the sound, one of the best sounding exhaust for the turbos, very distinct and mechanical.. BUT i was surprised to see people say it was quiet, cause mine s LOUD hah!!

AWE, Miltek & Europipe stage I are considered quiet imo but still has good performance. follow by Techart which sounds good & no drone. Europipe stage II quiet & stage II loud sound best for the car with no drone.

I believe, in my case at least, that my car sound awesome... the external WGs are insane yet when coasting the car is docile. I would never opt for a nice quiet exhaust... at least not at my age yet. Im a dj for 20 years and I dont even listen to music in my P car... NEVER.... its the 8K rpms that is music to my ears...

Theo said it all. My MILTEK is light years ahead of the fab I had. Great sound at WOT dut still no headaches at lower rpm's. Whatever you do listen to the exhaust on a TT before you buy. That way you will not make a mistake again

i had the awe = very loud, lost a filing in my tooth ; >
i then tried milltek= nice sound but LOUD
now have europipe ii quiet = quieter then these two but still tons of drone at 2-2500k rpm.

i bought a used ruf 550 = quiet, but 30 hp loss on dyno verses europipe on my stage 4 setup.

I think mine is AWE and its louder inside than outside. I can deal with the drone as long as I'm rewarded at WOT and I dont think mine is loud enough on the outside.

I knew it was something with three letters. I havent heard one I like better, mine sounds great at idle but I like more umph at WOT and mine is very docile, maybe it's the turbos because they do have the tendency to do that. I would like to here some clips of some cars that are loud at WOT. The best porsche exhaust I have heard is the CGT of course and really havent liked many others except that targa/rally GT3 that someone posted a while back, I want something like that.

This doesn't sound right. Did you buy your EP II Quiet from a dealer or was it a private purchase ?

Sharkster says that Europipe II Quiet is the only exhaust he puts in tips and cabs because there is absolutely no resonance and every feedback I have heard about this Exhaust (except for yours) says that there is no drone or resonance with that exhaust. Is there a posibility that yours may have been toyed with ?

I just purchased a 01 C2 Cab with a Fabspeed setup and it drones like crazy at 2500-3500. I called Fabspeed and they said to be sure to check all mounting points and clamps for proper torque and to make sure they were not contacting anything inatvertantly. They also told me that if that didn'r solve the problem, they would trade me for the "non droning" exhaust for $800. I think they are aware the the older ones have problems. Does anyone know if there are any markings on the mufflers to indicate which generation they are? The noise is mind numming although it does keep the wife out of the car! LOL!
