What's the Quietest Exhaust that Still Makes Good Power?

I now have a fast 996TT - at least as far as what I wanted. I am using the Fabspeed exhaust with 100 cell cats and stock headers. So the car is fast but the drone is really annoying sometimes. I take my kids in the car a lot and dont want to give them hearing loss at the ages of 8 and 9.

Can anyone suggest a good system that makes decent power but has less drone? I had read that someone had a Remus exhaust and was getting over 500 at the wheels with lower drone.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated? Nothing against Fabspeed, its a great product, I am just concerned for my kids hearing. Thanks in advance for your help!

The quietest exhaust is the Ruf. I used it for a few years. The sound is great!

I too owned a Ruf and I agree w/ Graig. Nice and quiet on the street but beautiful upon WOT.

what fabspeed exhaust are you running?

I would contact Stephen at IA, the new Fabspeed V3 is exposed to be "droan free"

I thought that I had gotten the droan free. I think its gotten louder since I first put it on about 1000 miles ago.

It gets a tinge louder but still no drone. I have 8500 miles on mine so far and still LOVE IT!

ok so I spoke to a guy I was about to purchase a v3 fabspeed from. He said in all honesty the thing drones. He is one of the first v3 fabspeed cars and he also has pics of his car in Fabspeed images(So hes got real miles on a 996TT muffle rna dnot the 997TT muffler). THe muffler drones and he himself switched to a Europipe. I guess this brings back the same question. What quiet exhaust is out there that produces ample power and has the least DB's and drone/resonance. to make that a little clearer. I feel drone is more low end hum and resonance is higher pitched(which isn't horrible in my eyes..ptth!... PSI exhaust love the turbo whistle) haha!. thanks

If someone has a PSI exhaust for sale please sell it to me. It just sounds so freakin good. and all I sense is resonance and not deep interior cabin hum! Sound clips that show other wise will change my mind

Weird hearing about the RUF, my RUF 590 exhaust is LOUD but sounds amazing ?!

AWE's exhaust IMO is the quietest!

Martin, it's probably GUTTED.

The one RUF exhaust I've heard was very nice and tasteful.

The Miltek exhaust is the quietest I have heard that WILL give you some HP. I know many people who have .... and love it.

The Ruf quiet sounds like stock, but has a single 100 cell cat. I think it is probably the only truly quiet 100 cell cat exhaust available. If you really want quiet - this is it.

FVD sport exhaust is quite (200 cell). Not sure on the power gains. Not much louder than stock.

I have a RUF. I love how it sounds at WOT. Otherwise it is very quiet. I will most likely be selling it shortly because it will be too restrictive for my 700 kit which is being installed as we speak. :)
