why does x73 come with "special" motor mounts?

why does x73 come with "special" motor mounts?

do these NEED to be installed and if not what do they accomplish?

We installed them here, they are a stronger motor mount, seems to be recommended.

Are those 1" x 4" steel panels? I got those with my X74. Where are they supposed to go?

Turbo Racer is infamous around these parts
the motor mounts actually are functional and stablise the vehicle during high performance driving. From what I've heard from the more engineering types the mounts play an integral role in improving the car's handling.
