WalMart battery maintainer

Walmart has a cheap 1.5 amp battery maintainer for about $17. It shuts completely off when the battery gets to a set voltage. It had a cigarette lighter and clamp type connectors. They also had a computer memory saver, which keeps the ECU and radio memory alive when you unhook the battery. It connected a 9 volt battery to the car through the cigarette lighter. It was $2.50. They also had some 2 and 4 gauge battery cables if you need a longer one for an Optima battery.

Careful!!!!

>>They also had a computer memory saver, which keeps the ECU and radio memory alive when you unhook the battery<<<

Factors such as over voltage protection, regulation, ripple, period and random deviation (PARD) & current limit points as well as many other power related limits are carefully specified by the Porsche designers when the power requirements for proper operation of the electronics are defined. I sure as hell wouldn't be buying anybodys' $17.00 generic widget to " keep alive" my very expensive ECU and/or my radio! Just MHO guys.

Cheers,

Does the Porsche maintainer turn off when the battery is charged or just taper a lower charging amperage?

Don't know! Each and every battery chemistry has specific needs and methods to properly charge and maintain. My point is simple. If Porsche offers a charger and/or keep alive device for sale, if I need it, I will buy it. OK?

It sounds iffy, I wouldn't use it on your turbo
