Dent Fix

Just picked up my first 'door ding' over the weekend . Located top of the driver's side rear wheel radius of the flare. Problem is it is located behind the intercooler ducting. Anyone have experience removing the liner and duct for access? I think I can fix the dent if I can get these parts off. Dentless is the other option, but I don't know how they'd access the dent. Any advise is appreciated.

I had one in the very same place. Beach Cities paintless dent removal fixed it. I don't know how they got to it but they did. The good ones are wizards. They even got one out of my roof once.

Get it done by a pro. It takes lots of practice and experience to get it right. Go for one by referral, not just joe from dent pro.

They use metal sticks to get behind the metal. They also tap the stress points to distribute the force evenly around the dent. They can do it perfectly as long as it's not at the edge (where metal is stronger due to stamping) and they can get behind the panel.

I had the exact ding. The wheel must come off, the liner and then there is a metal cover that has about 20 bolts that needs to come off. Not hard but a PITA. I got the car ready before the dent man arrived.

Awesome advice! Thanks, I may call Beach Cities Paintless Dent Removal. Is there a name that you recall?

I can surely recommend them. They've seen me through five different cars and associated dings. The owner's name is Mark and his brother that works there is Jeff. They have a shop in Huntington Beach but they also have a mobile service. To shorten the job and maybe save you some money you might want to prepare your car for the job like what was mentioned earlier in the thread, as in take off whatever you can and are comfortable with. Most of my dents have cost $100-$150 to fix, but each one is different so you might want to get an estimate from them. Last week they had to take my headliner out to get to a dent in my roof just left of the sunroof. Freak accident I'm afraid. They did a great job in eliminating the dent and re-installed the headliner perfectly.

Thanks for the additional info. What did you have to remove to get at the dent in the rear quarter panel?

Anyone know how to remove the plastic plenum that runs from the air intake to the intercooler? I can get to the dent if I knew how to remove it. Any advise I would appreciate it.

I just had a small dent above the rear wheel removed. It was right the top of the wheel arch. The dent wizard took off the back light and accessed it from there.

Well, I went ahead with the paintless dent removal pro's. WOW, I am impressed. My dent was pretty good size in 2 areas with high spots. I removed the tire/wheel, plastic inner liner and the metal shield to get to the dents. These guys from 'Dents Out Plus' went to work at my house and in 45 minutes you couldn't tell where the dents were! And they polished the area which would have shown any imperfections. If you need dents or windshields fixed, and are in the southern California area, call Rich DiMassa at 310-523-9455 or 800-437-0777, he will come to your house or business. Any questions please ask.

Pretty straight forward. There are 3 or 4 torx bolts at the forward end bottom of the plastic liner and 1 underneath. I used an allen wrench. The rest of the plastic nuts are visible, I recall they are 10mm but not sure. Once the plastic liner is removed you have the metal liner that protects the duct for the intercooler. There are 12 to 15 metal bolts that hold this on. You may need to wiggle this free if never removed. Whole job takes 20 minutes to remove and the same 20 minutes to re-install.
