100 octane
100 octane
I've read some of the post in the past concerning 100 octane and searched previous post and have these questions for the 'experts".
I have an '02 996tt w/ X50. I can buy 100 octane unleaded (76) in 55 gallon drums. The car is stock. Will I notice a difference between this and 91 octane which is the only pump gas we have around me? Can I run it straight or should I blend it? Are there any concerns about interaction with gas containers if I want to transport it in containers to the track? Are there any other concerns I should have?
TIA
Rob

I would be concerned about the freshness of the gas if it sits around in 55 gal drums for any length of time. Additionally, I would filter it coming out of the drums, especially near the bottom. Running it straight is great but more expensive than 93. If cost is not an issue, run the 100 all of the time. the X-50 will love it. If you are considering any 'chping', you really shouldn't be using 91 if you can avoid it. But let's see what the others think. As for the transporting, try to avoid closed areas like the back of the suberban. And use the 10 gallon plastic race gas cans, any shop sells them.
