Euro GT2- Whats the price difference?
Euro GT2- Whats the price difference?
On average, how much less is a Euro GT2 when compared to a US car? I have run accross a Euro car, and I am trying to figure out a fair price... especially given the current market on GT2's. It has 6k miles, full carbon and leather interior. Any ideas?
Hmmm just looked on the German Porsche official site and there are 2 GT2s in the dealer network, over priced I'm sure but should give you an idea to compare with US dealer network Gt2s.
1. 2001 Black/Black 47000km $127,403.17
I'd say this one has been tracked but the wife doesn't like bucket seats

2. 2002 Speed Yellow/ black 37000km $140,837.10
From the interior picture it look like a clubsport

Both seem pretty expensive, but then they are OPC CPOs

PCNA usually won't warranty and "grey" market vehicle. Lots of insurance companies won't insure them. The discount is not because the car is worth any less, its because of the aformentioned issues of warranty and insurance.
Early UK right hand drive GT2s are now trading in the $117k-$136k area, Euro left hand drive Gt2s out of dealer network should be around $20k less.
So you should be able to get a good early 996 GT2 for around mid to high $90ks.
But add shipping to the US + probably quite a bit of prep/conversion work to meet Cali road legal status + extra insurance costs for an import + possibilty of having to maybe source some Euro GT2 specific parts from Europe, not sure if it's worth the hassle.
As for the car you have found, I'd say with 6k miles on the clock it's worth more than mid $90k, depending on history and condition.

Thanks Lounge. By the way, I am referring to euro GT2's, already imported into the US. I figure somethinng in the mid $90's is fair for the car... my only concern would be selling it in the future.
Oh I see already imported. In that case I would certainly think a $10k price reduction over US GT2s would seem reasonable.
Trouble is the savings you make buying a Euro import are also the savings you'll lose when it comes to resale.
The GT2 market is very small, mods and other significant differences from a stock US car are only going to make that market smaller. Come resale you may be sitting on the car a long time waiting for the right buyer, or you'll take a big hit to get rid of it.
But personally I'd ignore all that, if I could find a good low mileage GT2 with the spec, history and condition I was looking for that fit into my price range, I'd buy it and keep it forever.
These cars are only going to get harder and harder to find as time goes by.
Do it!

I see DC Motors in Anaheim have a 2002 black/black GT2 for sale 30k miles.
Could be had for mid $90k range, don't know the history and no affiliation but GT2 prices have been discussed a lot here recently and this looks to be sitting at the lower end of the market at the minute. Worth a look if it has a clean history.

I do see the black on on ebay...thats alot of miles on a GT2 (not that it can't handle it...just in regards to the market), and their asking price of $99k is too high.
I am still interested in this Euro car...but I cant come to terms with a fair price. The miles are low, and the car is fully loaded $220k sticker. Single owner car with 6k miles. I don't want to lowball the complete hell out of him...but I wonder what I could sell the car for in 6 months. I do not want to lose too much $$ if you know what I mean.

You can buy a great US GT2 for $90-100k. I have only seen 3-4 Euro GT2's in the country so setting a price is difficult. It sounds like a great car so for what it is, the money should be strong. The warranty is not an issue and you should not have a problem getting insurance but the Euro status will still effect the price. On a 360 spider, a Euro car is $125-130k where a US car is $150-160k. That is 15-20% off. There have been some cheap GT2's changing hands lately but they have been rough cars. I would suggest that you start at $80k and go to $85k. If you love the car for its options, $90k. There is not much of a downside to an out of warranty Euro car. The only thing to consider is depreciation so buy it well enough that you will be comfortable with how much further it will go down. Also realize that the car was converted by an American agent so ask for the EPA/DOT paperwork, check carfax to see what country it came out of, and have the car inspected by someone who has seen a few GT2's to make sure that they didn't take any shortcuts with the electrical work or anything along those lines. In Ferraris especially there are very good conversions and very cheap conversions. Good luck with the purchase.
