your favorite exhaust system?

My father just picked up a black on black manual 996 turbo with the X50 performance package. It's an awesome car but unfortunately, its exhaust note leaves a lot to be desired. My dad used to have a 996 C4S with the sports exhaust and that was awesome. Now he's in the market for an aftermarket exhaust but neither of us know where to look. What have you guys tried? What would you recommend and what should I stay away from? Thanks.

For the best results, do a search as this has been discussed at length. Very personal decision. When I had my 996 TT I went with the Europipe Loud II.

Congrats on your (or your dad's) purchase and welcome to the phunny pharm. As Tuuner said exhaust is a very personal matter. I will say I also have Europipes (stage 2 Quiets) and am very happy...don't know an EP owner that isn't. Best bet is to hear them in person and being in CA there are lots out there. Good luck.

I have the PSI loud and absolutely love it. I spent a lot of time listening to different exhaust systems. It was between the Europipe Loud and the PSI. I just happened to get a good deal on a used PSI. Couldn't be happier.

I'm running a Techart and wouldn't swap it for anything else i've heard. Quiet around town, no drone on the motorway and the most awesome howl when boost kicks in.

This topic has been discussed at length here. My recommendation, find a couple you may be interested in and listen to them in person. If you get a chance check out the local tuners. Most will have turbos with different exhausts, and all the tuners on this forum are very willing to help a fellow enthusiast. My top three... Cargraphic Loud, EP II Loud, and GMG Loud. Good luck!

Like the others have said it is a personal decision. Go and listen to a number of exhausts and buy the one that you like. I like the MILTEK exhaust on my car.

Full agree unless you get an electronic exhaust valve like the Porsche C4S exhaust (try Sportec); techart is king for balance especially with RS engine mounts

You have to hear the sounds in person to choose. As you have memtion your father love the PSE on his last C4S. I will expect he like louder exhaust. Try to hear Europipe stage 2 Loud, Cargraphic export Loud. He con't go worng with either one.

I have a techart 70mm with the 100cell race cats.... Definatly the best choice for me.... No drone at all, great mechanical sound with a great note at any throttle position... nothing better then driving with the windows down
