997 looks much better IMHO. Front end recalls the classic Porche headlights and has lost the "hey I might be a Boxster" look. The cars are still both beautiful.

+1 I think the 996 will age better due to simpler lines in the long run. Not that any of us will still have them...

The 997 is really ahead in terms of performace with the new adjustable shocks and the ability run 100% RWD with no viscous coupling loss.

I respectfully disagree. Don't get me wrong, I love the 996TT, but not because it's better looking or has simpler or more classic lines.

I believe the 996 will go down historically as the cost efficient p-car that changed the way they built cars with extensive parts sharing between it and the Boxster. I also think it's a technically superior platform in almost all respects to the prior models but I think the lines of the car (and its similarity to the less expensvie Boxster) are a big part of the reason that the 996 models are not maintaining their value.

To my eye, the 997 brings back more of the "classic" Porsche style and I believe it will end up as a more "loved" model line than the 996.

Having said all that - I still want a 996TT - because right now it's an incredible platform at an amazing price!

I like the 996 all the way around better. The only other car I would want over my turbo would be a 996 gt2.

These are both beautiful cars. The changes that were made on the 997 were too subtle for me to want to run out and get one. It seems that Porsche wanted a change but nothing too drastic. I wonder if this will be the case with the 998?

Interesting comments. I love them both, but of course I'm partial to my car!
