CJV, call PDE and ask how they rig their car with the switch your speaking of. KPV got it dead on with the broken tin hollow door sound (it is b/c of the window edge being glass and retracting, plus whatever it is that is standard loose inside the door). and Dock, you just tallied the first set of mods. I think this is Porsche's answer to price controls. They make us add the good stuff after we get the cars. And Zippy, you just need to move down south with the other half of Canada that migrates in the winter (snow birds). As for me, I think I'm so bitten by the whole Porsche/race bug that they could hire me for chamber of commerce. In other words, I'm not impartial yet after only three years of Porschedom.

Chad, PDE = Porsche Driving Experience. I doubt they will offer any help concerning that issue due to safety, etc....

Rockit,

Watt, macfly, some others are leading an initiative to make the GT3 board on this site a place for all the cool guys from the other board.

Let's make it a success. I also think Shank should make the GT3 board the GT2/GT3 board as the GT cars are quite different from the Turbo.

I made a post over there requesting the same idea. We need GT2 guys to show support!!!

CJV, just call and talk to JEFF PURNER. He runs the PDE. He is a former racer and invented the Panos racing school. That is why some of the instructors teach at both PDE and Panos (plus they both used to be at Road Atlanta). Anyway, Jeff would tell you off the record. And besides, you could even use one of the switches that isn't used around the radio, ie the one below rear defrost.

Good thread. Here is my contribution:

- windshield rattle. This is a common Porsche issue (993, 996, GT2)
- boring engine noise. Why can't we have a more fun stock exhaust
- PCCB is a big disappointment
- wheels are too heavy (GT2)

Analog speedometer hard to read, clutch too small/weak, cable shift linkage, front spoiler scrapes too much, no analog vacuum-boost gauge, variocam transitions not smooth, paint and windshield chips too easily, ride too noisy and harsh with rattles, tire diameter too small, needs a a taller first gear and a larger displacement motor to pull it.

My wishes were that the gears would shift faster and
surer, especially on fast down-shifts.

I wish Porsche had never hired that hacker named MANUEL.

I wish Porsche offered more technical online advice about
performance and handling.

I wish Porsche shop manuals were available online.

how about a manumatic tranny like Ferrari's F1 or Lambo's Egear? The Tip works fine but it adds weight and has more transmmision loss.
