GT3 based engine in cayman or..

This is more a question for gearheads and really not vehicle specific.
I read about engine swaps for cayman or boxster using 996/997 based engine, farnbacher lohles(sp), etc why hasen't anyone put a gt3 based engine into a cayman/boxster and bypass all the x50 3.8 option? Is the gt3 engine/computer harness not compatable or dimensions ie intake track too high? Inquiring minds want to know.

I believe it has to do with the transmissions compatability with those motors. Theres a thread around here somewhere, search for it. I'll try to find it in a bit.

Well the typical 911 motor is a much easier swap, less fabrication required, opposed to the other motors. Since they're 964/993 crank based.
