anyone know where the stock amp is located in a 2001 996TT, I was going to install a new stereo and was confronted by the mass of wires behind the stereo/nav unit. I checked the speakers trying to trace the wires and found larger wires than were on the head unit going to the speakers, where is amp located??

 

Don't know on a 2001, but on a 2004 it is located where the spare is, driver side.

 

On the passenger side under the bonnet there is a vent looking device directly across from the center diff. The amplifier sits under there. At least it does on my 01.

 

There is at least one amp in my bose 02 next to the spare...
