No wonder you got the guy down and out, hopefuly you did not scare him too much to come online in the forum

Lets hope we see more development with the 997TT so we can put them really head to head

Your beast looks terrific, congrats again on the slaughter

The way his torque hits, and with his tiptronic...I'd say 9's on the right track. Not sure at what MPH, though.

Niiiiiiiiiice, I love it when you try to warn them.

Another favorite of mine happened to an unsuspecting R6 on a late nite road in mexico. He said 'lets go'... response was "You have no idea whats about to happen to you"

Guess he didn't think to check the intercooler behind the facia.

never under estimate what's under the hood of the man's car

As I was exiting the driveway of a strip mall, a white 997TT blew by me at a high rate of speed. The driver of the 997TT (a young guy) quickly slowed down and allowed me to pull along side. Then, he hit his throttle a couple of times, leaping forward, then slowing down, so as to emulate the internationally recognized mating call of someone looking to race. I responded by hammering my gas peddle and pulling away. The 997TT gave chase, but I had the jump and was long gone.

At the next light, the 997TT pulled along side of me and the driver emphatically stated: “Let’s get it on!!!!” I responded: “You picked the wrong car . . . you don’t want to do this.” The 997TT declined to heed my warning and reaffirmed his desire to “get it on.” I repeated that he had “picked the wrong car,” but I nevertheless agreed to line up.

We picked a nearby open stretch of road and agreed to go on the third honk. Making every effort to be fair, I allowed the driver of the 997TT to do the honking. At the third honk (approximately 20 mph), we both went WOT. For the first half second, we remained side by side (those 997TTs launch hard). Then, I pulled away from the 997TT like he was standing still. In a matter of a few second, I put several bus lengths on him.

When he finally caught up, he asked for a second run, this time starting from a dig. I agreed and we pulled up to a red light. When the light turned green, the 997TT shot out of the hole like a damn jack rabbit. He pulled a full car on me. I was really impressed! BTW, the 997TT was a tiptronic, which launches even faster than a 6Speed 997TT. I kept my composure (and my foot on the floor) and, after allowing the 997TT a split second of glory (you know he was giddy for that brief moment), I flew by him like a freight train and quickly opened up a huge margin (more bus lengths than I can accurately estimate).

We subsequently pulled off to the side of the road and chatted for a moment. The driver of the 997TT was a cool guy. He mentioned having some work done at Speed Gallery and his exterior was stock, so he probably had a modified ECU, but I don’t know for sure. I told him about 6Speedonline, so hopefully he will join. His car is gorgeous!!!

I really need to work on my launch and shifting. Among other things, I always forget that the Tip ECU pulls timing below 4000 rpms at WOT and, therefore, for the best performance below 4000 rpms, I need to stay a hair shy of WOT. I also need to focus on my shifting. In the heat of the moment, I consistently run the car up to redline and allow the tranny to shift on its own (while hitting the rev limiter), rather than shifting just below redline (a faster shift). These few simply methods should add a couple of bus lengths.

Regards,

Craig

Keep the stories coming,

The car must pull like a freight train and is almost perfect for these
"pulls". The 997TT's really launch hard from a dig (Tippy). Very impressive.

I know that white car. I also know that a few SG customers that upgraded to 997TT from 996TT are pissed and begging for upgrades as the platform didn't perform anywhere near as well as their mod'd 996TT!
