Fuel Pump Failed

Hi guys,

I have a quick question, for the past week I've been feeling the car is not running as smoothly as it was and suddenly today my fuel pump went on me. Would a fuel pump failure cause any boost issues? During this week I did spike up to 1.0 bar, but usually when I floor it, I was hitting at max 0.7 bars... and today, suddenly my car just died on me.. I'm wondering, before the fuel pump actually goes, would I have any boost problems?

The fuel delivery system can effect performance (usually on the negative side...not high side), but I can't say the symptoms you speak of are related. Usually if the fuel pump or fuel line fails your car will just die (and not re-start).

Dead on wross, and I know you know well that issue. MOST of the time, either the feed pressure line on the pump splits, and it just pumps fuel from the tank back into the tank, or the feed lines from the fuel pump pop off of the sending unit, essentially causing the same problem.

Had two pumps fail by the internal high pressure feed line popping off. In both instances the crimped D-clip just was not tight enough and a brand new pump assembly. After the second one failed I had all the clips replaced with proper hose clamps and the problem has not reappeared in over a year.

As to runnning w/o line connected, it doesn't. No pressure no fuel to the injectors.
