PPI questions list

Hey guys, I need your help. Getting ready to buy my first 996TT. I am having a PPI done, across the country, but need your input as to what issues to look out for, and speak about with the PPI mechanic. I know about 2nd gear pop-outs and the over-revs issues, it's the other things that owners would know about, that I don't, that I would like your help with. The car is a 2002 stock 996TT being bought from a private seller. Low miles. Thanks.

kayman is infamous around these parts
Make sure the owner has all the service records and that everything was done on schedule. Have them also check all the panels with a paint meter to test for any body work.

Landjet,
First of all go to a mechanic that is familiar with turbo Porsches. If the mechanic doesn't know what to look for, find another because he should be telling you what he looks for. I would have the PPI conducted at a dealership. They have a pretty extensive checklist. I had a PPI done by an indie shop that specializes in Porsches and I was very disappointed with their examination. Sounds like you are aware of the second gear pop out and over-rev issues.
