996 tt cold starting noise

After my 01 996tt sits for 3 days or more, when I start it I hear an internal engine noise. Like a tensioner has lost its tension on a chin drive??? After 2 sec, it all sounds good and continuous restarts sounds normal. Then sitting for the week, it cold starts with the same "rattle". Is there a hydraulic tensioner that looses tension? Thanks for your help here.

That is just the way these engines sound. You are right as the chain tensioner makes a lot of racket until the oil pressure builds and the tensioner applies the correct pressure on the chain. Sounds unbecoming for a Porsche , but that is what we all have to hear. Welcome aboard. Kevin

Learn to enjoy the "bucket of bolts" sound...

You are just hearing the sounds of fury getting ready!
