They are still trying to figure out how to get that thing running properly for what they advertised ... might never see the dealer floor ...

 

..I have a picture of that car in my place, it's from the 06/01 issue of Car&Driver. In that article, then VW chairman Piech says:

"The Veyron won't be available until the end of 2003 (hi-speed stability issues) and then it will be sold in very small quanities (50 to 60 a year) and sold at a very high price (say, $750,000).

16cyl AND FOUR Turbo's = 987hp & 922tq. from 2200rpm."


That was 3yrs ago, but still... WOW!

Great looking car. Now they just have to figure out how to keep it from spinning out of control.

 

I heard the limited top speed has more to do about tires than anything else.

 

Msrp is 1.2 million...and there are several people with orders placed(i read at least 9) .... over 1000hp and more than 900lb torque....motor isn't the problem.... they are having trouble building a tranny that can handle all the power, the engine power/torque is shredding through all the gears... they are contemplating using titanium gears or something that can handle the power the motor puts out.

 

But I heard the Me-four-twelve is gonna be faster (better power to weight ratio) going for less than 300k. sounds like a deal.
