I am in the market for a 01 or an 02 TT. I am curious if there are any differences between them. You thoughts would be helpful.
thanks

2002 has Bose stereo, glove box. Search the threads, there are lots on the minor differences between the years.

Early 01's had some unattractive bumperettes (warts) in the front bumper.

'02's have the "integrated 2-stage cupholder" as well, and the X50 power kit became an option.

Wow jcb, another local 996tt! Can't say I've seen you around. I'll have to look out for you next time we head down to Houlihan's!

Yeah, I can't say I miss the cupholder in mine as much as I do the glovebox.

I have come to love and appreciate the ugly warts, much as my wife has learned to appreciate me

For performance related issues, the '01s came with FR5 spark plugs, and the '02 and newer came with FR6 spark plugs. Most tuners say you should change to FR6s if you get your ECU flashed. Recent threads have noted a slight fittment issue with aftermarket silicone boost hoses on the '01s.

A tower stiffeners I think were added after 01....saw this on rennlist.com a while back while I was looking.

Some other minor stuff too probably....dash. Color options too, I am not sure the green made it past 01.

I picked 02 because it was affordable, not model year one (just had had a bad model year one issue with a B7 S4.....big issues with electronics), and it was pre-MOST. So a stereo upgrade was trivial.....
