Rear Spoiler Actuator Out, Again
Rear Spoiler Actuator Out, Again
The rear spoiler on my '01 996TT has failed for a second time this year. The dealer charges $1500 to replace the actuator. The spoiler is stuck in midstream and actually looks pretty cool. However, I an mot a big fan of the red light on the dash once I get to 75 mph.
I am thinking that this may be an opportunity to replace the spoiler altogether with one of the aftermarket wings that I have seen many times on 6speed. Please share your experiences with the aftermarket wings. i would also like to know what price I should anticipate paying to make the switch.
Thanks.

See 2 recent threads on this issue. Mine went out again, just like yours. There is the GT2 harness that you can replace that will bypass the red light. Lots of GT2 type fixed wings. I am looking into that option as well. However, I think Porsche dealerships have a 12/12 warranty on this according to my service department. You should be able to get this done free of charge. Once fixed you can keep it up with the dash control. In the winter, if you do drive it, you can keep it deactivated by taking out fuse D-7 (both spoiler and rear electric engine cover latch) so that it won't have to rise up and down in the cold.
