Miles remaining readout

Just had a question......regarding the digital readout on the dash which relays information to the driver about the number of miles you can drive based upon the fuel left in the tank. Does anyone know if this readout changes/adjusts based upon driving habits or style? When I first bought the car it would read nearly 300 miles upon fill up, now it only reads approximately 200 miles when I fill up. Granted, I do drive fairly hard and my fuel economy is a refection of that. However, should the miles remaining also be affected?

It changes based on driving habits... I've seen mine drop from 30 miles to go to --- with about 10 miles of my favorite road... race gas is spendy so you watch these things

If you mean 150mph... nah

My suggestion would be to refuel when the light comes on... I don't think the mileage to empty is all the accurate in the end. I run my tank nearly dry when I put in race fuel so I can switch to the race program sooner than later. To much crap in our fuels today to run the tank really low all the time.

Unfortunately, I found this out the hard way.

Soon after purchasing my car, my wife and I decided to go for an early morning drive. The computer estimated 37 km to empty...more than enough to get to the nearest petrol station....ran out of petrol in 5 km..
