I agree with Boston7777
TT is changing soon even though most people here are in denial...There will be a 997TT IMO as all they have to do is dump an X5 engine into the new body/shape....
SL65 is so scarce and I think will hold its value (unlike stupid over-produced 996 TTs...)
I love the 996TT but my 2 cents

"TT is changing soon" - clarify "soon'? May 2005? That's still over 1 year away just to be in the dealerships ... how long before one can actually get one (without waiting on a list) ... 2 yrs? still 2 yrs in a Turbo beats 2 yrs in a numb MBZ. IMHO of course

SL65 is truely a rare supercar... a Turbo is a bit generic. well I guess it depends what social ciruit your in. I saw at least 4 turbos in the last 2 hours in boston, they are everywere.. America might get a few hundred sl65's..

right, or Bentley GT over SL65, or Gallardo over SL65, GT2 over SL65 ... almost anything in that price range over SL65 imo.

I have also been hearing that some dealers are charging and getting $50k over list. By the time all is said and done you could own a turbo and an sl55amg for the price of one SL65. Besides as many have said, MB is not a driver's car. Numb steering poor handling. IMO, of coarse, but I think MB should look long and hard into building a chasis or perhaps engineer a real N/A engine ala new M5/M6. 375 slap a supercharger on it and you have a "new" 55 AMG engine with 493hp, Is that engineering?

Just b/c they are rare wouldn't make it the car to get for most enthusiasts. It goes back to car as jewelry. You have to be insane or just loaded to pay $50K more for an SL 65 than an SL 55, assuming you can even get one at list, which you probably can't. I've heard less than 200 are coming, but they all lie!

well first off my dad doesnt really care because i am the only one who drives fast and he doesnt ever drive the turbo (he just likes to look at it). The car was bought for me but due to my aggresive driveing style and the cost of driveing such a vehicle he keeps it at my uncles 80 car private garage thing. I only drive it when im at my dads (alternating weekends, and summer, because parents divorced). I really like the car and its pretty much mine so i told him to cancell the sl 65 today and he did, so we are going to keep it. I also might buy HRE's this week for it so thats cool. Thanks for the help guys

oh and i think the 997 is aways away and heres why: 1. the 996 was released in Europe in 1997 and we got the 996 in late 98/99, 2. the turbo then took another two years to come out which was 2001, and lastily the 997 wont stick around that long i dont think becuase its is sooo similar to the 996.

Oh and we have the first 998 comeing to the second for largest porsche dealer in ohio, so when it does come out well have one.

Had a SL55. It shut down on me in the middle of the freeway. I loved it and was set to get a SL65 until this. It was sold within 1 week and I have had the pleasure of a GT2 since. I have driven Mercedes for 15 years, but it is going to take a lot for me to go back. It's really dissapointing. I'm having a lot more fun anyways.

everyone is aware there is no extended warranty of any kind on any AMG Merc? they break!!!! and MB knows it!!!!!!!! these cars are like 60's muscle cars no reliability and fast in a straight line. MB are garbage. i will never buy another after my 600sl's and s600 with well known problems after some miles. this brand has gone down the toilet

ill try i wont be there for a few weeks becuase exams i have pics in it but nothing that shows its size. He only collects cadillacs though so you guys probaly wont appreciate that he does have a 1000000 dollar caddie which is pretty cool its a 1931 v16 and the other three of the specific model that were built have been destroyed, he has won best in show at concourse de elegance a few times.
