Best way to accelerate off the line...HELP!
Best way to accelerate off the line...HELP!
Hi Guys:
Well, just got my TT (had an 04 SMG M3) and it's been a while since i've driven a stick shift. So I am facing a problem of what's the best way to shift the Turbo. Couple of questions:
1. Off the line. Is it best to spool up the turbos to a certain RPM and then pop the clutch?
2. Shifting. Is it best to keep your foot lightly on the gas while to shift from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc (not on a downshift).
I want to get that 0 to 60 in 4.2sec feeling!
I definitely need some assistance here. Thanks for putting up with the new-guy questions.

Well i have been experimenting with a 4000 RPM launch. I saw a Topgear segment where they said launch from 4k by dropping the clutch and gunning it. BTW turn off PSM.
Some say you want to start at 5k but it probaly depends a lot on road temperature, pavement type, and tires

Heres what you do,
1) Clutch in select first, hand brake up
2) Rev to 5k rpm and feed the clutch in till you feel it biting, when you feel the car go up against the hand brake
3) Release the hand brake bring the clutch up and put in full power,
Thats the quickest way to accelerate from a stand still
all the best

Hey guys! Thanks for the info. I'm gonna give it a try. Revving the engine seems to be a must in order to get the "off the line" benefit of the turbos. If anyone else has some killer ideas, please let me know!
