Cool. When I get the car back from the shop next week I will pull out a ruler and a camera!

Main competition for this unit is the Smartire product?......with the in-the-tire sensors.

To late for me, I ordered a set earlier today. I really have to stop reading this board...lol, does this qualify as another mod? I can't wait to compare the readings to a calibrated pressure gauge. Anyone running Ni filled tires?

yeah, I have the smartire system and have multiple sets of tires. the smartire has the ability to pre set each wheel with low pressure warning. not sure if this unit has that.

Please report back when you do compare readings.

Any way we can get this data in real time via rs232 serial form to log to a DL1?? Now that would be awesome.

Nice post Dan, I like them, I'm in I'll call ya!!
thanks

Thanks guys. The product retails for $349, so the $299 price is great, plus what you get is great for the curious.

I ordered the unit two days ago, and it came today...fast shippers..thank you. I compared the unit to a calibrated source, one that I double checked yesterday in the lab, so I know its right on. The pressure readings across all tires were exactly the same as the source. I checked first with tires cold (32psi) and after some spirited driving. It was nice to see the real time pressures. I have yet to validate the temperature portion, as I didn't have a pyrometer here to compare against, I'll do that next week.
I am impressed with the performance of the unit, but I'm not to keen with the looks of it....to me it's sorta fugly. I may repackage it, but I like the unit so far. Rear tires running 2-3 psi higher than fronts after driving.

I agree it does look abit hokey. hey, but how serious are you?

I think the smartire unit looks abit more discreet.

Oak: yes, definitely more discrete, but can you read it down there during track sessions? Or do you rely on the the alarm feature?

actually just a couple quick glances is all I need, I can tell by how the car is handling more than anything. if it starts to feel wierd I will then check. with the smartire you can pre set low and hi temps and pressure to warn you if something is possibly amiss.

A good place to put it would be on the air vent to the left of the steering wheel.

Tried em both

I have tried the Smartire and recently the Hawkshead Pressure Track
The smartire one is alright for a normal street car where you dont want to go fast as the display is small and you have to press the button everytime to see each wheels pressure , so thats 4 times to see them all.
With the Hawkshead one all 4 wheel readings are right there in front of you so you can read them even at 100+ MPH and it has all the alarms an stuff the smartire has.
One issue with the smartire is the cost of installing internal sensors and when the batteries die you have to get new sensors with the the Pressure track you just replace them. Imagine having a speedo or tach that small.
Just my 10c
