Tire Size Question...but not so straightforward

So, hell has frozen over and I've just signed a purchase agreement. (finally)

996TT x50 18k miles - still under factory warranty

But I am getting a CPO inspection and CPO warranty as part of the transaction. Here's the rub: CPO requires 50% or more on the tires. I suspect that this will need new rears or perhaps even all 4.

Looking around, 235/40 and 315/30 seem like the preferred size.

Stock, however, is 225/40 and 295/30.

Am I gonna get stuck paying the dealer $2000 for tires that I probably won't want?

(and before you say 'the dealer is responsible for anything the car needs', this is a funny deal- private party, I've got a dealer that will CPO it for 'cost plus' so to speak.)

So, the questions:

1. Will a dealer CPO it with alternative sizes?

2. Has Porsche OK'd any size other than 225 and 295?

3. Any place to rent tires for a day to pass the inspection?

4. Any other idea?

Thanks for any input- I am looking forward to the obligatory 'it's in the driveway here's the pictures post'.

Ard, if you just need a set to rent for a day, i'm not sure how much is left on my stockers but, i'll be moving up to 235 and 315's soon so you might be able to borrow them. To mount and dismount 8 tires will probably be around $350-$400. Let me know and we can try and work something out.

Thanks. Might try that, or maybe just buy take the tires off immediately after CPO and my purchase- drive over to the tire shop, mount the larger tires and then turn around and sell the smaller ones immediately.

Can anyone confirm that the ONLY size permitted on a CPO is the 225/295 combo?

Thx

Adam

rentawrx is infamous around these parts
just explain this to the dealership... if they will bend the rules and CPO a car they aren't selling, they won't give 2 hoots about tires.

They are buying it and selling it in the same day, actually within a few hours.

I'll ask, of course, just want to know what the real rules are...
