360 FORGED - Carbon Fiber Forged 3 piece wheels - NEW SITE SPONSOR

360 FORGED is officially sponsoring 6speedonline.com - Please take a look at the new line of forged, 3 piece carbon fiber / aluminum wheels.

These wheels are hand built specifically to order. They are made of forged aluminum, specifically machined to accommodate a layer of high strength carbon fiber over the outside of the center section. This adds strength to the wheel without having to use thick, heavy forgings, thus keeping the overall weight down, while still maintaining a very strong, durable wheel.

They look beautiful,

Have any been bolted to a race car and run around a track for several races?

Interesting.

Welcome,

MK

Yes, actually we've done pretty extensive testing at Sebring on our 997TT. Had some issues during early development with discoloration of the clear coat, but we've completely corrected the issue. Besides that no issues whatsoever. I believe our best lap time was around 2:39 on the CF5ive with Yokohama Advan tires, and 2:41 on factory wheels / tires, on a completely stock 997TT. Don't quote me on those times though, we ran a few cars and I don't have the records with me...

Would I be right in my assumption that the CF wheels are
the same as the competition wheels, except for the CF
veneer?
thanks,
Joe

Yes, you are correct, however, on the CF Forged line, we machine about 1/16" off the entire center disc in order to accommodate the carbon fiber, and so it all fits 100% perfectly with the rim halves. This in turn saves about 4/10ths of a pound over the Competition Spec line, and makes it a stronger wheel with a higher load rating.

How would these wheels compare against the Dymags. Specifically weights and their design ie. centers vs barrel construction ? It seems you have more center design selections.

I would honestly say that Dymag is more of a race wheel. Our wheels are built to perform very well during normal and race conditions, but mainly they look incredible. The Dymag is a lighter wheel, and seems to be more dedicated to racing in my opinion. Seems to be a great product.

The carbon fiber barrel will save weight and rotating mass, and the forged magnesium center will provide good inner strength. Full forged aluminum wheels will be stronger and more durable over time, but you dont have the weight savings.
