Hi

I'm currently kicking around the idea of getting into a turbo. I bought my 03 996 last year and had great fun with my current car. But as time is going by I'm getting used to the power of the car and feels it has lost some of the thrill it give me when I first bought it. And as I'm seeing prices of nice 01 turbo's getting into the $80's, I'm interested in trading up. But no matter how good the prices of the turbos get, I will still need to fork out around $30k to get into a use 01 turbo. I have never driven a turbo so I like to seek some advice from anyone here that has done what I'm thinking about doing. Any down side of gong from 03 car to 01. I like to keep the car for long term so I figure a turbo might be the best car to keep for a long time. Thanks for any info or ideas or advice that anyone has.

Thanks
Gobie

sounds like the obvious first step is....

go test drive some used turbos at the dealer!

i test drove about five of them... tips and manual, and everytime, got my heart racing...

i actually was shopping for a low mileage 02 turbo, found a few for about 91K...

but then bought me a new on impulse one sunny day....

no regrets!

Wow, Gobie that was fast. oh wait I wanted to trade/sell my car 4 months after I got it, haha. I decided to stick with the C2, in a year I think Robyn and I are going to supercharge ours and it should give stock Turbos a run for the money.

But....if a nice GT3 came along...hmmmm I think I'd trade my C2 in for that!!!

I traded my C2 for a turbo. I drove my C2 all of 4000 miles before I traded it in. If you test drive a turbo, you will always want one. Mine is an 01 with the porsche certifed extended warrentee till April 2007. For me I could care less about an 02. The main differences are the glove box, bose system, and automatic rain sensor, and maybe self dimming mirrors. I will be changing the radio, when I get an aftermarket gps system in about a week. Just ordered the system. Better than stock gps even in the 02. I know how to flip a switch when it starts raining. No problem there. The glove box is a nice feature. For me I cannot not see paying alot more for an 02 for the glovebox. Your warrentee you will have, may be a little longer depending on the dates. Go test drive one. Good luck.

I agree...if you test drive one, you'll want one even more.

I think I will go test drive it today, the car is a 2001 seal greg with black interior. All I know is that it has NAV, did not see to much more options on it. The car is in flawless condition, no dings or nothing. They are asking $89 but I think I will try to buy it for somewhere between $82-$84. That would be a good buy I think considering it only has 13K miles on it. Here's a pic that I took last night when I dropped by the dealer. Let me know what you guys think.

please don't misunderstand this comment. The TT is THE cat's meow. But doesn't that car look naked, elevated and vanilla. I guess I have forgotten what they look like when they are born. Buy it and get modding.
