Question regarding price negotiation
Question regarding price negotiation
Hello, I just registered today but I've been reading these forums for several months. I'm looking on finally purchasing a 996 and have a questioning regarding what to offer.
There is a nearby dealer with a 2002 C2 Cab for sale. It's black with about 60k miles, nav, manual, carbon fiber interior, glass rear window, aero kit spoiler. It's very clean. Interior looks close to new. There is a minor scratch in the front right side and the middle brake light has a small piece broken off. The dealer is asking 40k so I'm curious what I should offer and what a vehicle like this typically goes for.
Thanks in advance =)

nvm I picked up an 02 coupe for 39k. The cab was nice but don't care much for the convertible thing. Plus, who the hell wants to see my fat face for rofl. The coupe just looks too good to pass up. Besides, being a fatty, I really don't need anymore added weight to the car lol~
So I guess this means hi.

Try this...
Offer them $38.5k and they fix the scratch and brake light plus free next oil change. From my experience, the key is to write it down, hand to the sales person with your name signed. This shows them you are serious. One of two things will happen:
1. They will say no to everything and stay at the $40k
2. Will accept or counter a bit. If the counter is good for you go for it.
If either 1 or 2 are not acceptable. Stand up, shake the sales persons hand, thank them for their time and walk out. Do not turn around, walk straight toward the door. Chances are he will chase you down and accept your offer (or close to it). Would also be good to find out how long it has been on the lot. The longer the better for you.
Is it a CPO?

Hey thanks for the tips all
Yeah I picked this coupe up and even though I've never driven a manual I just couldn't fathom purchasing it with the tiptronic. So I'm going through the process of learning how to drive a manual right now.
It's difficult so far but I really look forward to conquering it.
Ah, and here is a picture of it next to my mom's Cayman S. It's a bit dirty (man black gets dirty quick) so I'm probably going to go give a good wash later today.
