header bolts for a 996 C2

Hello again,
I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I had serious issues with my header bolts: most of them are solidly rusted into the block and 2 have chosen to break rather than back out.

There were some very helpful suggestions given to me which I am currently employing: however, before I rip these things out finally, I want/NEED new header bolts. Admittedly, at this point, my faith in the factory ones is a bit shaken. Any recommendations on where to find some new ones?

thanks in advance,
John

When I replaced my bolts with new OE units, I just applied a dab of high-temp anti seize to the bolts before I put them in. I have taken them out a few times since then and I haven't had any issues with binding or corrosion.

If you want to go with a higher quality fastner, I would purchase a bag of 361 stainless fastners from McMaster Carr. The bolt size is a standard M8 X 28mm. The closest size McMaster has is a M8 X25mm....which should work fine.

Here is a direct link to the bolts: http://www.mcmaster.com/itm/find.ASP...ring=93635A322

edit: Dang you RedRidge...you beat me to it!!
