Gauge replacement..

Looking at a gauge pod that includes the entire pod (speedo, tach, etc.) with white faced gauges. Curious though if the mileage is associated/programmed with the gauges or if the mileage is stored somewhere else and simply displayed in the gauges?

Here is what I am looking at

You can probably get the mileage reset at your dealer, but I doubt it will be cheap. You COULD just replace the faces on your current gauges, if you are careful. Good faces cost $400 up, but I think I've got a set of white and a set of brushed aluminum ones I'd let you have for $100 for either set. They are nice enough, but there is a reason I tried them then stumped out the $400.

Note that the gauges changed a number of times. Mine are for an 02 onwards 996 manual.

My 996 is an '02 Cab. The part number on the back of the gauges I am looking at is

996-641-103-01-70C

Will this fit on my 996?

Asked what year it came out of but have not heard back...

Found out they will not fit... If any of you have a 98-99 996, might check it out. Link is below. Here is the answer I got to my fitment question I posted at Renntech (in quotes)

" No - those were replaced by 996.641.103.03.70C and will only fit MY98-99 Carrera 2 with 6 speed.
You need the newer style LED cluster (they started in MY01)."
