Exclamation '04 C4S owners with dimming mirrors please respond....

I notice the driver's side mirror seems 'hazy' and has been that way since day one. Thought it was a film or buildup, but will NOT clear. Anyone else with this option see it that way, or is it as clear as the passenger side?

I have the same mirrors - the dealer says it is a function of the glue on the back. Whatever it is - it there forever unless you have them put on a standard mirror

Poursha is infamous around these parts
With self-dimming mirrors on Porsches, only the rear view and drivers side view (not passenger side view) mirrors are self dimming. The reason the drivers side view mirror appears cloudy is due to the chemicals that cause it to dim when a charge is applied--they never fully un-dim. I remember my dad had self darkening eye glasses when I was a kid, and even when he was in a dark room, they never got totally clear--same thing going on with the mirror. The rear view mirror is a bit cloudy as well, it's just not as noticeable since it's inside the car.

sasportas has a spectacular aura aboutsasportas has a spectacular aura about
mirror's

I have a brand new C4S with self dimming mirrors. In the sunlight the driver's side mirror always has a slight haze. At night it seems to clear unless there are headlights from behind. I don't seem to mind it and they seem to work well. I think that Mitex makes them for Porsche.

I do have a constant creak/rattle in the driver's side window, trim, or molding around the window. It's driving me crazy. The dealer is going to look at it next week. I hate to drop the car off because I love driving it so much. Does anybody have an idea of what's actually causing the noise so that I can give the dealer a little more direction on how to correct the noise?

Anyone know why other cars with self dimming mirrors seems clear? e.g. my M5 has self dimming rear view and side mirrors, and they seem perfectly clear to me.

Appreciate the feedback. Well aware of how they work and why, but my '99 had 'em and the driver's side was just a shade darker, not hazy.

Wondered about fixing this problem or leaving it alone. Guess it will be left alone.

Thanks!
