Oil Separator

Could anyone direct me to DIY instructions on replacing the oil separator. I could not find anything in the repair manual. I have a 99 C4 w/ manual transmission.

Thanks

there really isnt any DIY ive seen, only on boxsters wich is located on top of the engine exposed... but check the bellows first as they crack Its located at the rear of the engine behing the rear seat (driver side)...
If the bellows is good, then you have to take out the throttle body, plennums and clear all that stuff out so you can get to the AOS. BTW, dealers usually drop the engine but I heard of people do it the way I mentioned. For tiptronic, its mandatory to drop the engine.

My Indy mechanic said he can do it without dropping the engine, but it will take him about 8 hrs.

Manual will be 2 hrs less.

Is there a section in the shop manual showing how to get to it? (with or without dropping the engine) I can't find it. If so, could you give me page #s. I know that I can get to it and change it, but would like to see what other parts I would need besides the AOS...gaskets ... seals ... clamps ... bolts, etc. ... so I order everything before I take the car apart. For example, I think I will need to oder 3 new gaskets for the intake plenums. Is that correct? Also, is there any coolant going to the AOS?
