How long do you let your Porsche warm-up?
Warm-up
Thanks for the info guys.
For me, it still takes awhile for mine to warm-up and my freeway onramp is like 2 streets over so normally I have to bring her up to speed over 3500RPM before she is fully warm...
However, I think I will continue to let her idle for a bit but maybe not the full cycle...
About letting your engine cool off, I do notice my ENTIRE garage is hot after I get home. But the car itself is not hot to the touch but when I return back to the garage after getting home (to gawk at my car) it is a sweatbox in there. Maybe opening the engine lid would be a plus.........

I let mine warm up until the fast idle period ends. Mine is a 2002 c2. It idles around 1300 or so for a couple of minutes & when it drops down to normal idle I begin driving. I wonder what the logic in running instantly is. Also I find the gearbox likes the car a little on the warm side.
I don't really let it idle before I take off, but I never go above 3500 rpm's until the car is showing 180 (needle about straight up) on the temp gauge. I'm pretty religous about this, and I always let the car cooldown for about 30 seconds befor shutting it off. This lets the oil drain out of the cylinders, which it won't do real quick otherwise due to the flat-six configuration (unlike an inline or v6, which lets gravity do the work before the next start up).
How long time wise is it from ignition to putting the car in reverse?
That's about how long I let the car warm up standing still.
I don't push it past 3-4K RPM until the engine warms up though, which is about the same time when I reach the highway in the morning.

I think waiting till the engine is at operating temperature before you do any heavy acceleration. Heck it takes me at least 1 minute to get out of my drive way and another 2 minutes to get down the alley way onto the street.
Sh****ss to say the least. I am (somewhat) getting peace of mind by checking daily all fluid levels. Changed my oil to Mobil synthetic high milage 10-40 at 50000. Cut open the filter checked for silver metal bits and clear. Hopefully I have got one of the %90 to %95 cars that have been treated fairly but going from the gear box replacement, who knows? I have had the air box off (more times than John Wayne has appeared in western films) checking the engine front for leaks of any kind and find all clear so far. I never drive less than 2000 revs at all times. Fingers crossed I am sleeping at night.
I am not as worried but I do have tip this may explain a few things right there. I let the 911 warm up about 30 sec. to a min then I start drive it slowly keeping under 4K rpm till she reaches normal operating temperature of 180. After this the car starts pulling like a freight train.
i always let my car warm up. you would never run a marathon without warming up! lol i feel that it lets the oil circulate and the cold metal warm up.. i let my car sit for a minute or so as well to let the turbos cool and the oil to settle.
