2002 996 Slight Clunk ?

Hey there,

Had a quick question, my 02 996 Tiptronic runs great except for when I switch to 1st gear rolling under 5 mph there is a noticable clunk. The transmission works fine, and down shifts to 1st smoothly if I am rolling over 5mph . .

Could this be a problem ?

Thanks

When you are shifting to first over 5MPH I assume you also are under power, probably full throttle, and when you are shifting into first under 5 MPH it is when you are coasting/braking to a stop. If that is the case it is normal and just delay the downshift until you are at a complete stop.

You are 100% correct, I am under power during the downward shift above 5mph and essentially coasting under 5mph.

Thank you, much appreciated.

Cheers
