I have never heard that about the x-51 motor being the same as the 997 motor. I don't beleive that is true. Anyone, please chime in.

My guess is no.....up until the latest 997 the Carrera had only 325 hp.....the latest Carerra with 345 is a completely new engine.....

no, it is not... the 997 have its own x51 platform.

Maybe they share some common parts but the 996 engine in the 40th is M96.03 while the 997 engine is M97.01.
