Hello guys

Iam new to this board and had a question on exhausts. I have a 2001 996 c2 which sounds to mellow . I have been hearing many video clips on youtube and the 993 sounds like a lion compared to the 996 exhaust notes. I presently have a credit with porsche for a pse exhaust which iam still debating .

1) Why the dramatic difference in sound between the two. i know about the difference engines , is that the difference.

2) what can i do to get that muscle car lion growl to come out of a 996, if you type 993 exhaust on youtube youll understand ?


PSE sounds the best from what i heard on youtube. i just wanted your input on getting the sound iam looking for.

From what I've read the difference in sound is the air cooled sound vs the liquid cooled sound. The air cooled engines produce a sound that the liquid cooled don't.
I found my cab way too quiet, a pair of GHL's fixed that!

 

the sound you're hearing from the air cooled is more the than the exhuast... you're actually hearing the engine as well, the metal on metal and the fan makes a lot of noise... from the inside its actually less insultation from the water cooled so it really adds so much of the sound.
