Removing spare tire -- Bolt?

Hey guys.. since my car isnt used on long trips, I hate temporary tires, and, I need the trunk space, I removed my spare tire.
However, there is still the bolt sticking out.. anyone removed this, and how?
Any way to put it back in down the road if I need to?

you have to slide it horizontally from the drivers side to the passenger side ... it will slide out through a slot on the passengerside. its a little tight but it will come out.

thats how i got mine out.

thanks!

Yep- it works.
just went in the garage.. popped the hood.. examined it, and sure enough. I had to move the "carpet" a little, but noticed there is a slit cut in it already.... slid it over to the passenger side... and out it came.

Thanks.
cheap/easy mod. lol..
with a pcar, it probably changed the weight on the front end, and now messes with the aerodynamics.
