Used Supercharger FS on Rennlist
You just have to ask yourself if it's worth the grief. I don't think a lot of these parts are not meant to be installed, uninstalled, and then reinstalled. Factor in the cost of a flash and the lack of warranty and support, I'd pass....
Why would you need luck? I have successfully threw together a used vortex based supercharger for my m3 and I doubt the 996 would be that much more difficult. From my past experience all you need is the correct brackets, supercharger unit, aftercooler, injectors, and pick someone that can tune your ECU and you are set. This is no rocket science.
I wouldn't exactly say it's as simple as you're making it sound either. I had a Porsche/Evo dealer with a brand new kit direct from Evo manage to "f' my kit up. Never mind a used kit... I had to take my car to another Porsche/Evo to get it right.
Of course it was the installer. I don't think I was alluding to anything else.
My point was that this kit as not as simple as screwing in a light bulb. I had a Porsche dealer/Evo distributor, who is supposed to be as knowledgeable about these cars as anybody, still manage to get it wrong. Things can and will go wrong if it is not put in properly. My original installer got it about 80 percent working. Nothing horrificly wrong, but wrong enough. What I was getting at was that some of the fittings (oil feed, etc) aren't meant to tightened and loosened over and over again and there is no telling what happened to the kit during the install and then uninstallation.
I'm not going to mention the forum member names on here, but there was one fella who went way outside the Evo network to get his installed. Completely f'd it up. And then it's my understanding he sold the kit used to another member and it was quite the project to get it all back in properly.
And there was the issue of the flash, no support, and no warranty.
If you're really handy and can inspect the kit and it's contents properly, then go for it. Otherwise, just jump in on one of the GB's that is always floating around for these things and get the warranty and support that comes with a new kit.
It's not that they're overly complicated, but they are complicated enough. You've got to remember you're talking complete removal and replacement of the stock intake system, new fuel injectors, 3rd radiator, intercooler fluid pump and associated plumbing, the intercooler itself, the blower, belts, and associated oil fittings. Not to mention the all important ECU flash.

I was very interested in this kit but since I got no response from the seller via email, I think it may be a scam.

Some many threads about the SC, my understanding is that warranty doesn't transfer and they're not willing to help much if you buy and install it on your own so you need a lot of luck. I could be wrong though, just reading all the threads over the past year so my .02

From past experience, installing is moderately easy. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would say installing a S/C is 6. The only hard part is to find someone to tune the ECU. But then again, my experience have been with M3s and I don't know how much different a 996 S/C install would be. From pictures, it seems straight forward.
As for warrantee, you can get the S/C unit rebuilt when it is aging and losing boost or you can buy another S/C unit for about $2000-3000. Belt can easily be changed. All other parts doesn't wear.
