Need help with V1 remote install in center console.

Just bought a 40th Anniversary 996. I plan to install my V1 remote and my ZR3 display in the center console. I have a couple of questions.

1. How do you remove the lower shelf on the center console? Does it just pull straight out?

2. I find the CD holders in the center console to be completely worthless. Are there any aftermarket shelves, blank plates, etc. available? Where to buy?
