Tire size for track

Need some input please.

Currently have new 285/30-18's on the rear of my C4, but going to do a DE next month and am thinking to switch out the rears for a set of older 265/35-18's that I have from my old Boxster. Both sets are mounted (carrera on the new and sport classics on the old)- so won't be switching out the rims, just looking to save life on the new 285/30's in favor of the 265/35's which have some wear on them.

I know both are approved for use, just curious what differences would be encountered in driving.

Also, is it worth it to consider putting spacers on the 265/30's to keep it more consistent with the 285/30's - and if so what size?

Car is lowered and has P-SS9's installed.

thanks,

I really don't think your going to feel much of a difference with slightly less wider tires. I think its a smarter move putting the other tires on, but just make sure there are no cracks of any kind if they have been sitting a while. Lets see some pics of your Tripple Grey Cab!

The smaller rear tires will probably dial in a bit more oversteer than before...

Run 285 30 18 over the 265 35 18, they fit the 10" rim much better and will give you more contact patch.

Exactly. The 265's are plenty wide (IMO) for any DE. My car has just the right amount of oversteer and tracking is never a problem.

If you do want to run the 285's in the rear, try to bump the fronts up to a 235/40-18, or add a bigger rear swaybar.

Thanks very much for the comments. I quess from what was voiced thus far that it is not worth considering the wheel spacers in order to push the slightly narrower tires out a little further.
