Lightbulb Garage Door Opener

I had an idea this afternoon that actually worked great!

I hated having the garage door remote hanging on the sun visor and I had seen the post on the how to of taking the Targa Roof switch and wiring up the remote....and I was about to order one from the dealer.

Then I thought....I have the Misha Wing so I had an unused manual up/down switch just sitting there on the kick panel.

Very simple....just pulled the connector off the back of the switch, clipped the wires that used to go to the stock spoiler, and soldered the remote to them. Tucked the remote behind the panel and VIOLA. (You could actually wire up 2 seperate ones as the switch is double pole for up/down.)

A stealth garage opener for zero $!

(Sorry....I did it so fast and easy, I didn't take any pics)

Definitely cheaper than buying the kit from Ebay.

Though it does provide you the funky switch for the horseshoe panel.

Yeah, I also did this same exact Mod using my existing garage door remote and soldered it to a "Targa" switch. Works great and look very clean and OEM inside the cabin. A lot of people did this Mod on Rennlist too. Cheers,

Not exactly....you bought a $50+ Targa switch.

I used one that was there and cost nothing. That was my point.

That's great, good for you... I don't think anyone here would care much for $50 or less switch if they can do this Mod and get rid of their ugly garage door remote dangling on their visor. Actually I got my switch online for $30-something I think, not too bad. Cheers,

Absoutly agree....End result is the same.

It was just a solution that I had not thought of until today.....I was being resourceful.

It is a nice mod anyway you do it.
