New member here looking for PPI info

Hello all,

Just a quick intro, my name is Danny and I'm 25 years old. I'm seriously looking into purchasing a new (to me) car within the next month or two and am considering a 99-01 Carrera or e46 M3. I've been reading the M3 forums and this forum pretty thoroughly and thank you all for all the good info I've found here already.

I live in the Washington DC/Northern VA area and was wondering where a good place was to get a PPI done. Is the HBL dealership good or are there any good indie shops that may do a better job or be cheaper? Also, is there a list of basic stuff I should look over before even taking the car to get a PPI?

Thanks in advance guys!

we have a sub forum that should be local to where you live (look towards the bottom of the main page). You can always go to the dealer for a PPI or find a great local shop!

Yup, like Bruce said, find a good indy in your area by using our local forums.

As for a 996 vs. an E46 M3, do yourself a favor and go with the 996. I'm a multi-BMW owner (E39 M5, E85 Z4) and a brief 996 TT owner (possibly looking at a 996 TT Cabriolet to replace the Z4)...but the difference between the E46 and the 996 is staggering. The Porsche will be more fun to drive, handle better, outrun the M3 in a rolling start (0-60 may the best driver win), sound nicer, and on top of that deliver a more mature image. Oh, and you won't see 5+ 996s pouring out of your local high school's parking lot at around 3 PM each weekday .

Thanks for the info guys. I had actually never seen the regional forums down there... rookie mistake

And I am definitely leaning towards the 996... and a 15 year old honda civic to drive 90% of the time
