We see a lot of our customers who use these in conjunction with software. There is no questioning the performance increase the plenums deliver by themselves. Customers running our software with the RSS Plenum are able to use higher timing and fuel settings on average, than customers not using it. Either way it's one of the few bolt-ons that really works well and I would recommend it to anyone weather they're using software or not.

It provides a bump in performance, but it doesnt feel like a 25hp bump at least on a 3.6.Maybe youll get more with a 3.4.

Yeah I'm surprised Porsche didn't think to use a Y-designed intake plenum instead of the T-design. It makes sense, it will flow the air more efficiently. Are there cheaper ones out there? $1K for a small piece of metal, is pretty hefty. I'm thinking an intake, a plenum, headers, and cat back would be a nice combo to deliver a better breathing engine with more power.

here we go again, why dont you just wedge a custom triangular piece and insert it in the stock unit, have it dynoed with gains and sell it to us for like $200... sounds like a plan!

My understanding is a whole lot of R&D went into that small piece of metal and the hp/$ is very good compared to other bolt-ons.

Yeah, seems like hp for $ is reasonable and the plenum seems to be very high quality. Just wondering if there was competition out there, doesn't seem like a a hard concept to design and manufacture.

Not that I've heard of. You may see some cheap knock-offs emerge on Ebay in the future... but you usually get what you pay for e.g. headers, body kits, etc.

With the amount of money I have invested in the car, I'm gonna stick with the proven quality stuff, but that's just me.

Ericdee states above a 28HP gain with a stock airbox on a '99.

i have the plenum in my car and i definitely feel and hear the difference; it's pulling in more air and rev-ing better. i'm happy i got it. but, that 28HP number is misleading. it is a peak gain measured at a specific RPM. overall gain is the area under the curve. if you look at the dyno run image, it looks like the average gain is more like 10HP across the RPMs.
