Buy all I can afford….
Yea I know…
The money is a consideration…
Hell if I buy say… an ‘05 997 or a ‘99 996 - The BIG question is how much will this really end up costing me, the difference of what I pay and what I sell it for later.
Will it be $5000? $10,000? $20,000? I’d imagine it’ll be close either way.
I have a hard time buying new when I’ll only use it a little.

I say do your research, decide, buy what you can afford (relative of course), and enjoy the ride...heck, we only live once and if we keep thinking "what if", before you know it, game over !

This was what my wife told me when I was searching to buy a pcar

The 911's over time hold their value, the older the car the more depreciation has been worked off. You won't take a big hit if you were to sell a 996. If you but something newer and decided to sell it then yeah the value will drop. Something newer might be cheaper to maintain? I don't know. Research, find what it is you want for the money. There are a lot of good deals on 99-01 996's.

At the current market for Porsche 911 cars, look like 01-02 TT and 05 997 are the best value for the money.

I'd recommend selling any assets you have to obtain a 08 GT3 RS

Not always but typical prices. Obviously, less miles more options = more money:

Carrera
99-01 ($25K-$32K)
02-04 ($33K-$45K)

Carrera S
02-04 ($45K-$60K)

Turbo
01-04 ($47K-$75K)

Carrera/Carrera S 05+ (997)
($55K+)

GT3
04-05 ($65K-85K)
07+ ($120+)
